Week 21
Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 09:25PM Tomorrow (Friday) I see the doctor for the official results of my ultrasound, as well as the results of the optional genetic blood screen we did. I'm nervous. I want to believe everything will be alright, especially since it all appeared to be on the sonogram screen, but I'm so worried I'm going to be presented with bad news tomorrow. Because I had to reschedule this appointment, Mike can't be there with me. He doesn't come to every appointment anyway because of his work schedule, but I don't want to hear bad or even questionable news alone. Please let it be good news!
Here's me at 21 weeks...

WEEK 21: Size of a carrot

It's the length of the carrot - clearly my baby is not that skinny right now.
Also not skinny right now? My ass. Holy lord! I've always had a bit of a generous backside, but not...ugh, huge. I just read Jenny McCarthy's Belly Laughs, and she mentions her expanding pregnant butt several times. To myself I thought, thank god my backside hasn't started to enlarge yet. Then I saw this picture. Whoa. It sticks out as far as my belly does in the opposite direction.
Can we just pretend it's the pants I'm wearing?
When I weigh in tomorrow and it reveals I've gained 10 pounds, I'll know which part of my anatomy to blame!
(Have I mentioned I don't care? Because, baby! I'm going to be a mother, and I'm so grateful, and I'm willing to put up with an expanding...well, everything...to make it happen.)

You look amazing, Shannon! Don't be hard on yourself. And you have the most adorable belly! I read your other post about you thinking you don't look pregnant, and you are crazy - that is all baby!
I am loving the fruit comparison pics, by the way. :)
I would just like to point out that next time you're feeling bad about your huge ass, remember that mine is the same size and I'm not even pregnant. If that doesn't make you feel better, nothing will.
Also, my butt is getting bigger too. And I also think visually there's an illusion. Since your belly pulls forward, and the back muscles yank forward, it lifts the butt up! and makes it more noticeable! Or just visually it looks that way. Let me have my dream here.
I love Willikat's explanation for the expanding tush. I'm going to have to use that someday. For a person that normally has a flat butt, I'm loving the little bit of junk I have right now. :-)
And you look great!
