Week 27

According to some charts, I'm heading into my third trimester this week. Somehow that must be possible, but I don't understand how. My first trimester was slow because I was sick and I was extremely paranoid the whole time. But the second trimester was much faster, probably because I felt a lot better and because I was so effing busy the whole time!

WEEK 27: Size of a Rutabaga

Babycenter says it's the size of a head of cauliflower...but um, that's what The Bump called for two weeks ago. Must be because the average size range of fetuses at this point doesn't change much. It's between 13 and 15 inches for several weeks. So anyway, we went with the rutabaga, which is a root vegetable that apparently doesn't grow very large this time of year. Or whatever.

I've also been taking some pictures of myself with real clothes on. Nobody in my life takes pictures, so I realized the only proof I might have of my pregnant belly could be of me in pajamas holding produce. So, some self-portraits in the bathroom mirror, but at least I'll remember what I looked like in daytime clothes.

Also, this is the first time I've thought to take one of these pictures:

I truly cannot see my feet unless I lean over. I can see those lovely stains on my shirt though!

In other news, we not only finished painting the nursery (hallelujah! praise the lord!), but tonight we scraped stray paint off the floor, put all the outlet covers back, replaced the door and moved all the furniture back in place. I could cry I'm so happy. Now I can start to organize the clothes we have already, put away the mountain of baby stuff I've accumulated from my sisters, and bring in fun things for the walls, etc.

And. AND! It looks really good. All of our (mostly Mike's) hard work paid off.

Replacing a vent cover.

Ignore the ugly paint on the windows.

We also met a second doula candidate yesterday, and now we have two really great options. We were having trouble figuring out how to afford and justify the cost, but I think we might be able to use our HSA to cover it, which will help so much. More on that when we actually hire someone.

There are a lot of things causing stress right now, as I indicated earlier this week, but all in all things are really good. And I'm so thankful for that.

The room is so beautiful!! The chevron rug? TO DIE FOR.

Have you registered? I can't remember if you mentioned it...

We did register! We got so much stuff from my sisters though, that we didn't need a whole lot.

Whoa. You are way ahead of where we're at.

The nursery is looking great! Can't wait to see it filled with more baby stuff!

I'm shocked you could find a rutabaga. I wouldn't even know where to begin. :)

PS: The purple looks totes sophisticated.

The room looks great! You are definitely way ahead of us in terms of setting up for new baby. I LOVE that chevron rug. I'm sort of obsessed with chevron right now and want a similar but larger rug for new baby's room. Where did you buy yours?

And you look great too! It definitely becomes interesting when you can no longer see your feet. You'll accumulate tons of stains on your shirt (where your belly pokes out) and clipping toenails becomes challenging. :-)
