Michelle Obama

Last week Tuesday, a colleague mentioned our organization was offered 10 tickets to a Student Forum in Detroit, featuring, that's right, First Lady Michelle Obama! We didn't hesitate and the next day 10 of us woke up god awful early to be at Wayne State University when the gates opened. The primary audience for the program was high school students, but there was some standing room right in front of the podium for general public. By sheer luck, we ended up about 15 feet from the stage!
It was a long, hot day, and for anyone but the First Lady herself, I may have said it wasn't worth it. But as soon as she stepped on stage, I forgot how sweaty and tired I was. I'm not usually too celebrity-obsessed, but there's something about Michelle Obama that has me star struck. It was amazing to see her just 15 feet in front of me, and to hear her speak about the importance of mentoring and education.
But before Michelle spoke, we heard from a few others. Like Magic Johnson.

And Spike Lee.

And Kimberly Locke (from American Idol).

And Governor Granholm, which was exciting for me because I like her and have never seen her speak.

And just because it's fascinating, here's a picture of some of the snipers that surrounded us.

Ok, now to the main attraction.

Isn't she radiant? I feel like I could sit down for a chat with her and be completely captivated without feeling intimidated. She's just so lovely and admirable. It was a very cool experience.

Radiant indeed!
What an awesome experience!
She's so lovely! And she always looks so together! Love the sniper dudes, though. When the governor came to our theatre, they swept the building with bomb dogs. Made a few co-workers nervous until they realized that they were *bomb* dogs, not the other kind!
She really does have flawless skin.
How cool! Either you were up really close or you have really good zoom on your camera :)
I heart Michelle O so much.
