I'm busy and I can't think of what else to call this post

So here's what's been going on for anyone still paying attention. My days and my nights are pretty much completely occupied with non-blog-related things, which is frustrating to me because I love my blog community and I miss it. But between planning a wedding that's in less than a month, planning and participating in parties and showers for all the other weddings and babies coming up, figuring out where to move and now packing for the move, and being nonstop busy at work, I've had very little time for much else. And when it has come down, as it often has, to choosing between watching our favorite shows or reading my favorite blogs (or writing in my own), I've chosen the shows. Sorry guys, but the cast of Community demands my time.

In all honesty, wedding plans are going fine. It helps that we're keeping things pretty simple, and it also helps that I am a master organizer. We're so prepared up to this point that I'm not feeling any real pressure or panic.

It sucks though because every minute of free time we have, the Giraffe and I have the following conversation, "Ok, let's look at the Wedding To Do doc and see what needs to be done. Then we need to pack something." And that's what we do. Pretty much every weekend, in between showers and other obligations, we work off a list with items like "buy paper for pinwheels," "confirm ice cream machine," "pack up book cases" and "get storage unit."

We had planned to move to a small town in between the two cities in which we work, but things are a bit tumultuous at my place of employment, and I don't want to do anything rash until things settle down. Basically we needed a temporary solution for about two months, and we were faced with three options:

1) Extend our lease. (Axed because, where we live, it is incredibly expensive to add months to a lease unless you're adding 12 of them.)
2) Sign a 6 month lease in said small town between the cities. (Axed because if we move to said small town and then the unthinkable happens with my job, we'll be stuck in a small town in the middle of nowhere for no good reason.)
3) Move into his mom's basement until we're ready to make our next move.

After MUCH discussion, we went with the third option. Yes, we're moving into his mom's basement two weeks before the wedding and we'll be there until at least a month or two after. Not exactly how I imagined things for us, but I've decided to have a sense of humor about it. It's all just a pile of bad timing. We're getting married + our lease is running out + we can't commit to another place for a couple months = mom's basement. And that's really ok... at least we have such a generous option right?

This is one of those stories that you'll laugh at some day. Good luck!

Busy busy busy! But better to be too busy living life to blog than not having anything to blog about because you have no life.

And believe it or not, come wedding time I think you'll find that having your mom around will be extremely helpful. Or the worst decision of your life. Either way.

Just think of it this way: with the $ you're saving on rent, you can take an AWESOME honeymoon or buy something seriously luxurious.

It's definitely OK. It's not like you're planning on living with her forever. You're just being smart when you're not entirely sure what the future holds. I hope the unthinkable doesn't happen.

That's right--at least you have a mom's basement to move into for now.

But it sucks to have this much uproar right before the wedding. Those times are busy enough.

I remember the month up to my wedding was crazy hectic.

As for moving into the basement - there is nothing wrong with that! And agreed - at least it is a nice option (and not permanent... or even long term!)

Kevin and I had to move into my parents basement for two weeks. Our lease was up right before Christmas, we couldn't get into a place until after New Years, so we camped out. It was okay...
