You always come through for me

I'm taking your advice! I'm getting the biopsy. I don't think I ever doubted that I would - with a history of breast cancer in my family, I knew I couldn't take the risk of not having it done. But at my appointment yesterday, even though I was there for an hour and a half, it all seemed to go so fast. One minute I was getting an ultrasound as planned, the next I was whisked off to the mammogram room, and then I was told I'd need a biopsy. I didn't have time to process it all.
Plus I was recalling things I'd heard from other people about how doctors deal differently with patients who have insurance and those who don't. If, after writing that post, I had heard a lot of stories from you guys about how, Yes! Doctors totally do that! I would have called and investigated a little more. But instead I heard a resounding, YES! Without a doubt, get the biopsy! And I agree.
Next Tuesday I'll be naked from the waist up with a needle in my numbed left boob. Woohoo! I'll let you know how it goes.

Hey Shannon,
I had a lump/mass removed, it was about the size small brussel sprout, about 1 inch or so. My doctors were pretty sure it was benign. It was a fibroid, but because of the size it had to come out.
I wouldn't worry too much right now.
The worst part of the entire procedure getting a wire attached to the mass prior the actually surgery, it was weird and itchy. The best part was the twilight they put me under, I had amazing dreams of skating.
Numb boob sounds kinky. ;)
I'll be thinking of you.
Best of luck, darlin'. Here's to a fatty pustule!
Shan! Im a little late to the game here, but just wanted to put my two cents in too. I absolutly agree with everyone else to get it done, esp if you have any history of breast cancer in your family. Im sure it's nothing, lots of people get weird growths in their breasts. Maybe not the most fun thing to spend your money on, but like Dori said money well spent.
Also I think it's a shame to have to worry about doctors and their motives. I have a lovely doctor back home and would completly trust him but if I were sent to a specialist...and if I didnt even get to meet said specialist...
I'm glad you decided to do it!
Good luck for next week. We'll be here crossing our fingers and toes!
So glad you are going ahead with it. Please, please keep us posted. Sending my biggest hugs!
Oh, I'm late to the game this week and had no idea this was going on! But, I'm glad you made this decision. You're in my thoughts and I'm sure everything will be just fine.
Thanks for sharing too. I'm sure there's another woman reader out there going through something similar and you helped her make the right decisions by being so open about your own experience.
Yay!
[...] was feeling pretty good about this biopsy thing the last few days, but then I made the mistake just now of googling it. Now I’m scared. [...]
