Day 7: Connemara (Lettergesh, Tullycross)
We didn't have much planned for the day, so we arranged for a van to take us to a Mussel Fest and Craft Fair in Tullycross. On the way, we stopped at Lettergesh, a serene public beach.

We could only stay for a short time, but wow, gorgeous huh? The van took us through Tullycross and into Tully (no cross) where there was a convenience store. I realized the cold medicine I bought wasn't going to last me through our time in Connemara, and this was the closest place that might sell some. All they had was a powder you dissolve in tea though, and it was horrid! I couldn't even choke it down. Anyway, after buying drugs, we walked back to Tullycross for the Mussel Fest.

(This is one of the many authentic thatched roof homes we saw on the walk and throughout Ireland.)
The Mussel Fest turned out to be one small tent that had five booths with jewelry and baked goods for sale. And the restaurant at the inn nearby was having a special on mussels. That's it. Ah, small town life. A couple people did order mussels for lunch, but I passed. I usually try to try new things, but I was too sick to put anything slimy and foreign in my mouth.

The van picked us up later, and we headed back to the hostel for a nap, after which we made dinner. Then the five girls in the group (there was one guy) went on a wine and cheese boat tour of the Killarey Fjord. It was peaceful and enjoyable, but I was also glad to get back to a bed. Even though I still wasn't sleeping.

If only they could have combined Mussel Fest with the wine and cheese tour. Now that, ladies and gents, would have been a good time.
