Ireland: Day 3

Day 3: Dublin to Galway
Our train to Galway didn't leave until the afternoon, so we opted to spend the morning at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin. It was kind of a hassle because we took a trolley, then walked 15 minutes in the wrong direction. And then half the exhibits were closed. But the museum and the gardens were pretty cool, and we got into the special Calder exhibit (no photos allowed) free because we were students.
We quickly found and settled into our hostel (I haven't uploaded those pics yet) (if you're ever in Ireland and need a good hostel, look up the Sleepzones), then hit the streets. Our professor gave us a quick walking tour, but we were starving so we found a good place for fish n' chips. It can be pretty expensive to eat in Ireland. My average evening meal was about 11 or 12 euro, which converts to even more in USD (I think it was about $1.30 conversion rate when I left). Plus if you order a soda (good luck finding Pepsi - it's basically Coke, 7-Up and Fanta over there), that's another 3 euro. For the most part we ate breakfast at the hostel (toast and juice) and lunch out of the Spar stores (they're like 7-11s). Dinner was either at a pub or we'd buy groceries and cook group meals in the hostel kitchen.

Then we took a train to Galway. I was still feeling not wonderful from the night before, so I mostly tried to sleep. But didn't. However, what I was feeling that day turned out to be the least of the sickness I was yet to experience later in the trip. Tell you about all that later.

When we arrived in Galway, I immediately fell in love. It's such a cool town. I think if it weren't for all the rain, I could live there.

I was still regretting all the beverages from the night before, so after walking around awhile after dinner, I called it a night while a few others hit the pubs.
