To go, or not to go (to BlogHer that is)

I really want to go to BlogHer in July (it's the 24th and 25th). But I'm kind of not sure, so I need your help.

First of all I want to know if you're going. Or if you're thinking about going. Also, when are you going, how long are you staying, and do already have roommates?

Here is my situation...

This is the first year it is really feasible for me to attend. It's in Chicago, so I don't have to pay airfare to get there. I'm a student, so I can pay the student rate. And I now feel like I actually have a solid blog network and that I'm worthy to attend without feeling like a fraud. So I want to go, it makes sense for me to go, and I can afford to go. BUT!

There are complications. I'm just having a little trouble coordinating some things that will allow my experience to be as enjoyable as possible. It's too complicated to explain here, but just know that hearing about which of my wonderful blog friends and readers are going to Blogher will help me tremendously. Even if you're just kind of thinking about going but you're not sure, that's helpful.

So are you going? Huh huh? Are you going to BlogHer?

Gah! I had already decided I wasn't going! And now I want to! All because of you!

I'm interested in seeing people's responses because I have never thought about going. Ever. Even a little bit.

I went two years ago and do not recommend it. It was attended in large part by mommy bloggers and "professional" bloggers who are focused on building their networks and advertising, which is what most of the sessions focused on too. Those are fine if that's what you're into, but they were of no interest to me. Further, I got the sense that personal bloggers were looked down upon, and we were definitely in the minority. Even the social events kind of sucked. If you want to know more specifics, email me some questions, and I'll be happy to answer.

P.S. Instead, you could come to Chicago and have a personal blogger meetup with me and http://10-eleven.blogspot.com/" rel="nofollow">comebacknikki. We're more fun :-)

I would LOVE to go. I'm still on the fence because of the economy. I can fly there relatively cheap because of my mother-in-law but I feel guilty spending money. Also, I'd be nervous as hell to meet blog peeps whom I admire. In the quiet recess of my mind, the awkward girl that I was in high school still reigns queen Dork Supreme and she'll rear her head when I get there.

i always thought i would end up going but at some point over the past year, decided i would rather go to squam (http://www.squamartworkshops.com/) ... so am doing that in september instead of blogher.

i'm betting you'll have a great time though :)

I'm not a blogger, and I'm not going...HOWEVER, I think you should go because you've wanted to for so long...and what if you wish you had gone?

I have always wanted to go but never felt like a legitimate enough blogger to actually attend!

I would really love to go, but that's the weekend of my friend's bachelorette party...that alone gives me a few reasons why blogher isn't going to happen for me this year!!

If you ever feel like experiencing the fun that is MN....my couch is ALWAYS open :)

I'll be there! And will actually be sitting at the registration desk, so you'll see a friendly face who would love love love to meet you first thing. How's THAT for added incentive? ; )

Since you don't have to pay airfare, you should totally go. I had a lot of fun last year meeting a bunch of my blogger buddies in real life, although I don't know if I'd go again this year if I didn't have a little one.

Cannot imagine being cool enough to go. Also, fear the issues mentioned by repressed librarian. It sounds really intriguing, though!
