Choose Chicago
Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 07:12AM Last weekend I didn't do a lick of homework, and instead spent the whole time having fun. Friday night I got all dressed up and went to a fundraiser with two of my sisters and my evil awesome step-mom friend. We mingled and ate delicous food and sipped drinks and pretended like we were totally posh all night long.

Then Saturday I went to Chicago with the Giraffe. We decided we wanted to do the museum circuit, so we picked our top three and spent two days looking at cool stuff. Saturday we stopped at the Museum of Science and Industry. I have memories of this place from my childhood, but I hadn't been there in many years. It was not at all like I remembered, but still pretty cool.

That night we stayed in the Travelodge downtown. It seemed pretty nice, and when we first got there I exclaimed how impressed I was with what we got for the money we paid. And then we found this:

That was really fun. We didn't ask to be moved because really, if there's cockroaches, do you think they're restricting themselves to our room only? No. But we did ask that they get rid of the damn thing while we were at dinner. Which they did not do. Travelodge, we will not be seeing each other again.
Sunday morning we hit up the Shedd Aquarium. Again, not at all how I remembered it as a kid. Why are my memories so unrealistic? Makes me wonder about the other stuff I remember. All false? Anyway, it was still pretty cool.

Post-aquarium, we walked to the Field Museum, a place I had never been before. It's HUGE! And kind of awesome. Though I ended up deleting most of the pictures I took because they were pretty lame. Pictures of fake animals behind glass just aren't that cool.

Despite the cockroach, the Asian cuisine failure, and all the yelling I did while driving, it was a really fun weekend. The Giraffe and I want to visit the city again and do all the stuff we couldn't fit into this trip. Also, we're taking the damn train next time.

Aw, don't you just love the chicks at the Museum of Science and Industry? Not much was the same from what I remembered when I visited too (used to go a lot as a child) but the chicks were the same. And please tell me that you saw the Fairy Castle. It was my favorite thing to see when I was a kid. I wanted that castle so badly.
Oh and you and your sisters are so gorgeous! :)
You and your sisters are absolutely beautiful! I honestly had to look twice to figure out which on was you.
I could have done without that picture of the cuckaracha. Egads! Glad you had fun in Chicago.
OMG. You and your sisters are so beautiful. And your stepmom! Wow. Good gene pools, there!
and/or your awesome friend. :)
Agreed on the gorgeous family! You all look alike!
Looks like a fun trip!
P.S. Love the boob grab! ;)
OMG. On New Years we stayed at the Congress and our room looked right on the Travel Lodge and I thought the service there was so bad I kept saying damn, we should have stayed at the Travel Lodge. I am so unbelievably afraid of cockroaches. I would have had a heart attack. Whew. Sure dodged that bullet.
oh and you and sisters really look alike
I went to all those same places when I was 15 and visited Chicago. The hubby and I are planning to go back this summer, so I wonder if I too will feel like things are different than how I remember them. Maybe it has to do with age? Things just don't seem all that cool anymore...
I can't believe how much you three look alike! You're very lucky to have sisters, and good relationships with them.
This sounds like a fun weekend. I haven't been to any of those places in such a long time.
The cockroach scares me though.
Random side note--the other day I was at home and made some tea. The Mister threw away my tea bag even though I planned on reusing it. I told him it was a waste of a teabag and then I immediately thought of you for your tag line. I don't know whether that's funny or really sad that I thought of someone I've never met after scolding someone for wasting teabags. :)
I'm such a sucker for museums and aquariums. When I was in D.C. it was museums daily, though how could you not in D.C.? They are FREE, after all.
WHY do all roaches die on their backs? --Seriously?
You and your sisters all look so alike! (and that's a compliment, btw)
