GR Ink, cont.

Back to the tattoo thing. I still need help. There are a few issues I'm running into. While I really like the design I showed last week, I wanted to consider some other options. For instance, my friend Angie drew this for me, which is basically the other design turned upside down:

Still too L-like? My friend Lindsay found this, a cursive Z, which I also really like:

I don't sign my name with a cursive Z, but I've always really liked their shape.

The other issue is the foot placement. A few people pointed out that I might not want to show my tattoo on certain occasions, but I've actually considered that. I think the foot is a pretty subtle and respectable place for a tattoo (I could be wrong here). Even if my tattoo isn't hidden by shoes at a job interview, I don't think a "Z" tattoo on the foot spells DANGER! BAD EMPLOYEE! And if it does, maybe I don't want to work there anyway...

However, a couple people suggested that the foot can be a tricky place for a tattoo -- it can heal funky and fine lines can run or blur. So maybe something as detailed as the top one would be a bad idea? Is the cursive design too fine for the foot?

OR! What about something like this:

OR! I could go super simple and get one of these (not the whole alphabet, of course, but look at the Z's):

I've had years to figure this out, but I suddenly realize how many options there are. So let's recap: What kind of Z should I get? Should I nix the foot idea because it might heal wrong or be blurry? If so, where else should I get it? If not, what design would work best on the foot?

This is a permanent decision you guys. On my body! I need your help. Please.

I like the pretty Zs. I wouldn't want to compromise on the look just so I could get it on my foot. I'd go for the ass. I know eventually it would lose its shape (the Z and the ass) but no one you don't want to see it ever will. Of course, if you only *sometimes* want people to see it, just don't get it. I think that indicates ambivalence, and if you're ambivalent you shouldn't get a tattoo.

Or what about a finger? Then you could cover it with a ring...which completely undermines my last comment, but I'm just thinking things through here...

I really like the cursive Z. I have several friends with tattoos on or near their feet, and they didn't have problems with them (as far as I know). One of my best friends has a tattoo on her wrist that she covers with chunky jewelry when she doesn't want to show it. We're in a pretty tattoo-friendly town, though.

I like the cursive z as well. You know I have one of my tattoos behind my ear. That is my favorite location of all my tattoos. It shows just enough. If you only want to show your tattoo sometimes I feel that's acceptable not ambivalence. If no one else ever saw them I wouldn't care, they are for me.

p.s. my next one is going on my foot!

I agree with some of the commenters about not compromising the design just to have it on your foot.

I really liked your original Z and I really like the second one posted in this post (which runs the risk of being "too detailed" for the foot).

How about on your hip?

This will be of absolutely no help, but I like most all of them.

As far as the foot tatoo, I like that for the simple fact is there is a girl at my ballet class who has one all over her right foot. I am fascinated by it. It looks so cute. Plus I have loved many tatoos that I have seen behind the ear. Those are probably my two favorite places.

I like the top one. A lot.

I like all of them except the last one. It looks like Zorro wrote it.

Vote +1 (even though this isn't a vote). It just looks like your personality. The actual tattoo for the edge, and the serifs for the sensitive side.
