Mind-numbing goodness

We're giving up. Giving in.

We're getting cable.

Sort of.

Comcast has a thing where you pay $15.99/month for all the channels that should be free but you can't get because your tv sucks and won't pick up a digital signal. I think it's called the I Hate the Digital Switch package. Because, you know, we're PAYING for tv that should be FREE since our tv won't pick up this elusive digital signal that the government mandated. So yeah, hate it.

I told the Giraffe there was no way I could justify paying any amount for TV right now, but he thought maybe he could justify if he paid for it with the  money he makes donating selling plasma a few times a month (something I cannot do because, wow, big needle). I'm just the lucky gal who gets to reap the benefits of his brilliant plan.

TV!!! Finally!

Only thing is, we're several episodes behind on our favorite shows, namely The Office and 30 Rock, and we don't want to jump in mid-season. So now we have to figure out a way to access Hulu (it doesn't work on my laptop and the Giraffe's computer is non-functional right now) and get caught up. In the meantime, I'll watch something else, anything, whatever's on really. Because finally, we have TV again!

Update: Apparently the season premiere of 30 Rock is tonight, so we haven't missed anything!

I don't know if I could go without TV. I've never tried, and frankly I'm to scared to.

Yay! I think this is a good idea. I'd also recommend getting a DVR. You can usually find them on Craigslist for super cheap! I did this (and ran some extra cables so I could record more channels) and it is awesome.

Also, I'd like to know more about the plasma thing.

Oh, and you can catch up on eps at Surfthechannel.com.

I gave up TV 2 years ago, it was way easier than expected, ESPECIALLY since you can now watch almost anything either on hulu or megavideo, without commercials! I strongly encourage you to check out megavideo. But you need a strong signal, so you'd have to address the technical issues first.

The first two weeks I was in Wichita this summer, I was without tv OR internet OR Kyle. It was absolutely miserable. The silence drove me up a tree.
