It's a costume because it's false

Happy Halloween everyone! I got really creative this year and put a lot of effort into a costume. Can you guess what I am?

You’re right! I’m an undecided voter. And I lied, I only put about five minutes of effort into this costume. I already had the Obama shirt, and rather than contribute to McCain’s campaign by purchasing a button, I just printed the image on cardstock, laminated it and stuck it to my shirt with velcro. Believe me, it pains me to even wear it, but it’s all in the name of halloween right? Actually it’s in the name of having a good excuse to wear jeans to work. Undecided voters always wear jeans. Obviously.

Last year I was a gym teacher just so I could wear sweat pants to work. Apparently for me Halloween is all about being as comfortable and casual as possible. Or really I’m just lazy.

Also, tomorrow is November and you know what that means. Nablopomo! This will be my third year participating so I hope you’ll follow along.

One year I cut a heart out of red construction paper and pinned it to my sleeve. I was wearing my heart on my sleeve. Unless people said, "Oh, you're wearing your heart on your sleeve," then I would say, "no, I have a heart on." Which only works if you say it in American English with our problem pronouncing ts as ds. Now that is low effort.

I think it's academia generally where people don't dress up. (Staff don't either.) Though there do seem to be a lot of people dressed up as Phillies Phans today.

Nablopomo! Isn't that how we met? :)

Nice! I think you may top me... I put my devil horns on with a red t-shirt. :)
I have a much more in-depth costume for tonight, but didn't feel like wearing my semi-slutty costume to work. I'm going as Hell in a Handbasket. Happy Halloween!

Oooh! Good call. I'm totally "phoning it in" this year. I like this...

I tried to leave a comment, and it didn't work, so I tried to leave it again and it said it was a duplicate? The Internets hates me! :)

I love your costume. I'm going as a witch. I figured I own about 97 pairs of sensible black shoes, several black dresses, and a black shawl, and I might as well make that work for me in a non-funereal sense. I bought some orange stripey stockings and a $1 witch's hat and called it a day.

We just went for lunch and there was a table full of decked out adult superhero's.

Very cute :) I'm going as Justin Verlander's girlfriend. So original, I know. I'm convicing Andy to wear my Justin Jersey so it can look believable. Brayden is Paws, the Detroit Tiger. We like to match in this family. :) Have a fun Halloween.

I wore pajamas to work last year because I was supposed to be a cute kid. And this year I wore pajamas to work because I was working from home. Ahh comfort.

[...] spent halloween with my niece and nephew. I donned my Undecided Voter costume while we trick-or-treated, but they had fun dressing me up even more later. Hence the wig. And also [...]

I actually like your costume! It's clever and I wish I would have thought of it.
