You may learn more about me than you wanted to know
Monday, March 13, 2006 at 08:13AM
I know I've been out of commission for awhile and you've all given up on me, but I have good reasons. Unfortunately not everyone in the world understands the glory of high speed internet, my grandparents among them. The dialup at their condo (in Florida! where I was for a week!) is so slow, I would have had to dedicate an entire day to posting anything more than a few words. But I'm back in Michigan and back to my precious high speed.
However, all I have to lure you back in is a sad tale of how illness sucked the fun out of nearly half my vacation. Let me begin by saying that I haven't been sick in at least a year. Brad gets a cold approximately every other month, but the whole time we've been together, I've never caught anything from him. Or anyone else. I even WANTED to get sick for awhile so I could rightfully use up some of my many sick days at work. Alas, my body fought off every cold and flu virus for a year so I could work diligently every. single. day.
But vacation? Certainly I can't enjoy that. My body hates me.
Actually the weather was beautiful the first few days and I felt great. Got a little tan (read: burn that turned to tan), walked on the beach, swam in the heated pool. But by Wednesday the clouds rolled in, the winds blew strong, and my body shut down. I was pretty much laid up on the couch our last two days in Panama City, and I wasn't sure I'd survive the all-day-traveling to get home on Saturday. However, that was not the cold's fault entirely. It was also due to the fact that I couldn't do the doo. If you know what I mean... Do you know what I mean?
Let's just say once we were back in Jackson we made an emergency stop at Rite Aid for some Magnesium Citrate. This happens sometimes when I travel, certain organs fail to function properly, and this time they didn't function all week. Imagine my dicomfort.
Magnesium Citrate came highly recommended for its fast relieft, so I chugged (okay sipped, that shit's strong!) almost the whole bottle and waited. An hour later I was in the bathroom, hovering over the toilet. Face down! Yeah, I puked it all up. And of course it didn't do it's job. There I was, crouched on the bathroom floor with regurgitated Magnesium Citrate on my face, a week's worth of food still inside me, and snot clogging my congested head. I was a dilipidated mess of a human being.
Brad brought me water and let me sob into his shoulder, then he helped me to bed and tucked me in, so I could deal with everything in the morning. Which I did. I went the generic Dulcolax route this time and I feel MUCH better! Plus my cold is nearly gone...just in time for work. I took a sick day today though so I could get one final day of rest. And sleeping till 11 this morning did wonders I do believe.
Okay I can't write today. I'm sorry if you came here expecting something interesting and instead read all about constipation and snot. If I could have posted in the first half of vacation, you would have gotten a very different story. As soon as I upload some pictures, I'll share those and maybe redeem myself.
