My totally awesome fair post
Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 11:40AM
Brad and I graced the Jackson County Fair with our presence on Tuesday. It was actually a pretty fun, fattening time.

We ate lots of greasy fair food.

Like french fries with salt and vinegar that you sprayed on! Yeah, with a spray bottle.
And corn dogs. And elephant ears and ice cream, but you don't get to see those. Cuz I didn't take pictures of them.
We also saw lots of stinky animals. There were so many effin' cows there! Everyone just brings their cows and puts them in big community barns and shows them off to judges who determine how beefy they are. Or dairy-ish? Strange.

Black cow

Brown cow

Sleeping pigs

And my favorite, white ducks! Someday one of these will be my pet and I will name it Isabelle.
I find it really bizarre that they judge produce. Like not just gigantic produce that weirds you out. I'm talking about produce that you could find at your local grocer.

Look at the winning beans. What makes people think their beans are fair-worthy? How do you even judge such a category?

Lastly, here are the prize-winning blackberries. Apparently the flies like them too.
That's it! Until next year's fair...

I think one of those flys is definitely giving the blackberries two hairy thumbs up.
Also notivce that the duck in the middle just mught BE Isabelle. She's noticing you taking the picture and is doing one of those things with her head that dogs do when they're trying to understand you.
And there's nothing like a bunch of string beans on paper plates to really round out the ol' Jackson County Fair.
Honey what do "flys", "notivce" and "mught" mean exactly?
That duck you're referring to looks like the Aflac duck!
Wow, I really need to proofread more often, huh?
Hey, it's me. I'm actually reading Live Journal! I just had to comment because, I'm not sure if you're aware, but I've always wanted to name my first girl Isabelle (or Isabel--I can't decide). So I thought I'd point out that your duck would have a beautiful name! AND I just found out that our fair is over the two weekends I will be out of town (in Des Moines for one weekend), so I'm going to have to go on a week night, which is never as fun. But I shall make due. I'm glad you enjoyed the fair!
Hey! Fancy seeing you here. Do you always read my livejournal? I checked yours out and you haven't posted since 2003. Can you change that please? I'm adding you to my friends list in case you ever get inspired to write something.
I really like Isabel. Better actually. Go with that. Is that Corey and Topanga in your icon?
See you in September!!
that looks like a lot of fun. i didn't get to go to any fairs this year. i really like looking at all the new tractors :)
Ok, I was originally going to ignore your comment about my mac, but now its causing more problems. Not only is all my text stacked at the left of my screen, but the other pictures didn't even show up. What is the deal? I don't think its my mac though because it used to work fine. What the hell.
I have no idea. Maybe it's not your mac, but don't you have to use a different program to open LJ? Or maybe that's gmail. I don't know hon, but that sucks. I'm sorry.
Robin, what browser are you using on your Mac? Safari?
I know she uses Safari, but it's only when she uses either LJ or gmail, can't remember. Probably LJ cuz maybe that explains her issues. Since Robin is too busy working and seeing Eminem, I thought I'd answer for her.
Hmm, well tell Robin for me that if she sees the same thing in multiple browsers, it's probably her Mac, but I find that highly unlikely. Otherwise, it's just some weird setting in whatever she's using to view stuff. Or she's not logged in. Or something else entirely. Yep, that's definitely it.
I'll be sure to tell her, thanks. :)
I know she doesn't always log in, so you might be on to something there...
Ok, I actually use internet explorer to open lj, but its like a way older mac version. I do check my gmail through Safari though..maybe I should try and view the page through that and see if it happens. I'll let you know.
Ok..to answer all of your questions. I officially views my lj through Safar, and things work just fine. So, apparently its just something with my internet explorer. AND, I am now logged in ALL THE TIME..so that must not have been the answer either. Now, the only thing that I don't understand is why that just randomly started happening...I used to be able to view everything fine from IE. And, I dislike Safari for anything other than checking gmail...so its a little annoying that I now have to use it for lj too. Damn.
