Some men are dripping with diamonds, some men are dripping with pearls sapphires
Monday night my sisters and I got together and went to dinner and the mall. Andrea wanted to buy an urban fire pit (or whatever they’re called), so we all tagged along. On the way out, Emily and I strolled through Zale’s (just for fun - we are sooo not jewelry people). A friendly man helped us look at and try on a pearl ring that caught Em’s eye, and as an aside the man mentioned “Pearls are nice, but they do not work for men.”
“Oh yeah,” I said, “what does work for men?”
He held out his left hand for me to notice his gold wedding band, studded with small diamonds.
“Or sapphires,” he added. “Those are a nice rich color that men like.”
Really? Because I thought most men didn’t wear gemstones. Diamonds I guess, in their ears. Or in the shape of dollar signs around their necks occasionally. But sapphires? For real?
I really don’t care if men want to wear fine jewelry. And since I’m not a jewelry person myself, maybe I’m just totally out of the precious stone loop. But this guy suggested diamonds and sapphires for men as if I should be picking up a tennis bracelet and matching drop earrings for Brad.
I’m not sure he’d love that.

My dad wears a ring that he got for some bowling thing. I can’t remember if it was a perfect game or high season or what. It has a red stone in it, me thinks. Other than that, I don’t really ever recall seeing many men having gems in their jewelry (aside from what you mentioned). I don’t recall seeing many men wear much jewelry at all, as a matter of fact. Hmmm… Maybe I’m just way out of the loop…. =)

Probably not the earrings, but definitely the tennis bracelet.

My dad (sense a theme?) has a pinkie ring with emeralds. He’s also started wearing some of the David Jurman line for men. I think that’s onyx.

I think that should be David Yurman.

Pearls does seem to be something women especially appreciate. Kind of like fine china. But is that so wrong?

No jewelery. I don’t even wear a watch. The closest thing I wear is cuff-links. But honestly… could you ever see me with an earing? Not going to happen.

Anything outside of a watch and wedding band is wack- and borderline PIMPISH!

tennis bracelet & earings? although, the right man could probably pull it off, i have a feeling that Brad is a bit too manly for such things. Just a hunch, though. who knows, maybe he’d start a new fad.

Who did this guy think you were dating, P-diddy? Seriously. My man who cry his eyes out laughing if I brought him home bling such as that.
