I like winter activities, but what I don’t like is the long drawn out cold for the sake of being cold. You know, no snow, dark, overcast and freezing cold. Where is the fun in that. I like the winter that you can play in. Skiing, sleding, doing donuts in vacant parking lots. The rest I could do without.

Oh, and How is it that you still live in Michigan? It seems to me that you hate winter.

I recommend fleece sheets. We got some nice ones at the Vermont Country Store. Also, I highly recommend sleeping with a nightcap. We made those from fleece too. Of course, now everone knows I go to bed looking like a big dork, but I haven’t had to put a wool blanket on the bed in years. The hat makes a real difference.

do you have any recollection of iowa winters? i swear they’re the worst because they simply do not prepare for it. they don’t salt the roads, they don’t plow ’til there’s no more snow forecasted, and they instate tow-bans so if you’re stuck, you’re stuck ’til the storms have all passed. (i grew up in chicago and they do a much, much better job.)

also, i just turned on the heat for the first time tonight as it’s supposed to be 23 out. ugh. … i highly recommend a heated mattress pad, though. my feet are sweating as i type this. )

I do like winter, but I think my winters would make your winters laugh so hard they peed themselves. I’ve lived in Florida for most of my 22 years of life and its only snowed once and even then my brother, sister and I could only manage a 5 inch snow man after collecting all the snow from our front yard.

So in my case, I get to wonder why you crazy people like summer!

Oh how you make me laugh. I appreciate the warning though. I’ll be sure to bring lots of warm clothes!

Though I don’t really care for the cold myself (hate it actually), I do enjoy the days when there is a fresh blanket of snow on the ground and you go outside and everything is all crackly sounding. It’s brisk, but not freezing. The trees glisten and everything seems new and fresh.

I love that we get to experience the seasons changing. I think it’s beautiful and what makes Michigan unique. But I loathe being cold too.

You haven’t turned your heat on yet? Dang! I go into a minor panic and start thowing on 10 layers of clothing & blanketsif my thermostat falls below 68. But, yeah… I definitely notice it in the gas bill.

Fellow winter-hater here. I’ve hated winter ever since I had to deliver papers in snow and sleet when I was thirteen.

As for all those people who love the cold and embrace the coming winter…they’re just mental.
