BlogFriday: Problem
Oh BlogFriday, you’re so cute. You were having a problem earlier in the week, and now your inspiration word is, so creatively, Problem. You’re a quick one, BlogFriday!
Of all my options, the only problem I feel like writing about today is regarding my lunch habits. I started off really good in this new job, packing a lunch almost every day. At my last job I got an hour lunch, plus I worked close to home so I could go to my apartment to eat most days. This was good for two reasons. I saved money by eating at home, and I got to escape the soul-sucking dungeon for an hour a day.
At this new place though, I only get a half hour lunch, and I live at least 20 minutes away. So, in the beginning, I bought a lunch cooler and everything, thinking I would pack a lunch at least three times a week. Or more. Defintely more! That worked for awhile, but pretty soon I was packing fewer and fewer lunches. Then suddenly I found myself in this week. I packed a lunch on Monday—Campbell’s microwaveable soup, crackers, a pear, juice—and it’s still sitting under my desk today, Friday (luckily nothing needed to be refrigerated because I’m sure the kitchen crew would have dumped the whole thing during their massive clean-out this week).
So why did I not each this lunch?
Monday–sisters called and met me for lunch
Tuesday–lunch with coworkers
Wednesday–potluck
Thursday–needed to escape this building if only for 30 minutes
Friday–thought of not escaping building for at least 30 minutes caused temptation dig fingernails into own eye sockets
I might have taken my lunch with me, eaten it somewhere else, in the care even. But there are no parks or quiet little roadside lots around here. Plus, you know, the soup requires a microwave. My ego will not allow me to heat up my soup, walk out of the building and eat in my car in the parking lot of the car wash slash instant oil change down the road. So instead I’m taking the packed lunch home with me tonight.
Maybe I’ll eat it on Monday.

I’m so terrible about not eating my lunch when I bring it with me to work. For some reason whatever I’m hungry for in the morning is rarely what I want to eat come lunch time.
Oooo, I’ve done this. A number of times, in fact. That is why I bring leftovers to work instead of sandwiches and soups. I really don’t care for either much. But, of course, you have to have leftovers to bring leftovers. hehehehe
I have the same problem. It requires a lot of organization to find a tasty option the night before/morning of a workday. Plus, I too am tempted by co-workers’ outings to the zillions of tasty eateries near my office.
I’ve done this more than I care to admit. But sometimes the temptation of getting away from the desk is too great to ignore.
