Approaching my maximum stress level

So Connecticut is out. Damn school and their lack of the dual program I want! So since that’s what everyone voted for, I’m still at a total loss. If anyone has any further opinions, you know I’d appreciate them. Otherwise, thanks for your votes even though they’re now obsolete!

Who knew trying to go to grad school could be such a pain.

PS… I’m down to South Carolina, North Carolina, West Virginia, Florida and of course Michigan in the case of desperation

Ignoring all academic and financial concerns…

If you could live in any of these states, where would you live?

Connecticut
West Virginia
North Carolina
South Carolina
Florida

Keep in mind that all coastal states are inland cities, in case that sways your decision at all.

Why can’t we be more productive when we sleep?

I’ve apparently been out of school too long. I got too comfortable in my 8-5, too used to being done for the day when I left my office. Trying to keep up with everything there plus figuring out all this grad school stuff is really weighing on me. I can’t take the pressure, all I want to do is sleep. I’m sick of thinking so much, I feel like I can’t even be productive anymore, I want to just quit and forget the whole thing. I want to sleep and have it all be done when I wake up.

I guess this is good practice for when I do go back to school and become super-busy again. Can somebody please do it all for me?

An elaboration on what I did before

10 years ago I was: riding the bus and sharing a locker with Cody Yoder. And dating Steve Shear for a month. What the hell?!

5 years ago I was: an RA and a Magazine Journalism student at Drake, and probably the most insecure and lost I’ve ever been. Hence the reason I left after that year.

1 year ago I was: starting a “job” that pays me less than 10,000 a year. And yeah, I’m still here.

Yesterday: I worked, went to Brad’s volleyball game with his parents, passed out while Brad did “homework”

5 snacks I enjoy: small twist ice cream cone, pretzel rods, cereal, any other kind of ice cream, candy!!

5 songs I know all the words to: Fresh Prince theme song, Natalie Merchant’s “Wonder”, Sarah MacLachalan’s “Angel”, Elton John’s “Levon”, Jackson Browne’s “The Pretender”

5 things I would do with 100 million dollars: pay off student loans, give to worthy causes, travel, travel, travel

5 places I would run away to: wherever my mom is, wherever one of my sisters is, wherever Robin is, wherever Brad is, my bed (apparently I often run to people, not places)

5 things I would never wear: wow I really can’t think of much. There’s a lot I might not wear in public, but there isn’t much that I can say I’d truly never wear. Cuz you just never know…

5 favorite TV shows: Desperate Housewives, King of Queens, Will and Grace, That 70s Show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

5 bad habits: biting my cuticles, cracking my knuckles and all other joints that can be cracked, swearing (I can’t even turn it off in front of children!), being mean, getting pissed when I’m driving

5 biggest joys: spending time with Brad, hanging with friends, being with my family, reading a great book, accomplishing something on my To Do or Do Before I Die lists

5 favorite toys: Brad’s camera, my handheld Tetris, my MarioKart game, that thing I bought with Robin the other day, my old Pogo ball (long gone, but I loved that thing!)

5 fictional characters I would date: AJ from Empire Records, Lucas from Empire Records, Gina from Empire Records, Doug from King of Queens, Deacon from King of Queens

3 people I tag to do this: Alaina, Rachel, Brad

Without looking it up…

How many of you know what I mean by the Konami Code? How many of you can actually recite it?

Don’t worry, I didn’t know it either. I’m just wondering how big of a nerd my boyfriend is.

Des Moines rocks my world

Well maybe not, but the people I visited there sure did. Rachel, Tony, Alaina (who is actually the only one that reads this)– thanks for so much fun!

It was Reunion 2005, and seriously, I love those guys. Even when we do nothing, we have the best time. It’s nice to have friends like that. Next official reunion isn’t for two years, which is sad, but I have faith that we’ll actually do it and that makes me happy.

As the official photographer (thanks to my wonderful boyfriend for letting me borrow his camera), I took tons of pictures, which I’ll try to share eventually. Also, the train is a decent way to travel: relatively inexpensive and relatively comfortable. You should try it sometime.

This is fun

10 years ago… I was starting my freshman year of high school. And I was totally lame.

7 years ago… I was a senior. And still pretty lame.

5 years ago… I was at Drake still and feeling totally lost about my life.

3 years ago… I met Brian and so began that confusing period of my life. I was working at Meijer, living in Allendale, and generally still confused about my life.

1 year ago… I met Brad and started a friendship that became so much more. I was new to JCC and feeling a little less lost I suppose.

1 day ago… I was on a train coming back from Des Moines where I hung out with my fabulous Drake friends for three days.

1 day from now… I’ll be at work as usual, then hanging out with my boy as usual. Love it!
