What is a snail? An amphibian? A crustacean? A mollusk?

I was weeding a garden yesterday and something approximately like this

attacked me. Yeah, attacked. As in stretched its nasty slimy neck out toward me. After nearly barfing, I ran inside and that was the end of gardening. I still feel like the gooey bastard is crawling all over me. I hate creatures.

Our weekend plans

Plan A, camping: didn’t work out due to lack of planning on our part

Plan B, Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village: canceled when we realized how holy expensive it is compared to how poor we are

Plan C, Binder Park Zoo: canceled due to extreme heat and humidity and lack of desire to be outside

Plan D, matinee in air-conditioned theater on saturday, sleeping sunday away in air-conditioned house: enacted and enjoyed

We saw Wedding Crashers, which I found pleasantly humorous. Plus we got a free combo! Mmmm, popcorn. Then of course we all know how much I love a lazy Sunday. So it was a good weekend.

Oh yeah, like my new icon? Credit goes to Brad for finding the picture because I couldn’t, and also for making the icon for me. I’m thinking maybe it should say “Willy Wonka” on it so that everytime someone looks at it, they get that song stuck in their head.

Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka
The amazing chocolatier
Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka
Everybody give a cheer
He’s modest, clever, and so smart
He barely can explain it
With so much generosity
There is nowhere to contain it
Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka
He’s the genius who just can’t be beat
The magician and the chocolate whiz
The best darn guy you’ll ever meet
Willy Wonka–here he is

What do you think?

My take on CATCF…not that anyone cares

Finally saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last night.

I don’t care what anyone else says, I was highly entertained. I think even if the movie were to stand alone it would be very enjoyable, but as a classic story from childhood it was even more fun to watch.

Willy Wonka: I loved Johnny Depp’s take on this character. Don’t worry, I still love Gene Wilder’s Wonka, maybe even more. But I was captivated by every second JD was on the screen.

Charlie: Before I saw the film I thought I’d hate Charlie. I wanted him to be ugly and scrappy, not cute and lovable like Freddie Highmore inevitably is. But in the end, how can you ever hate Charlie?

Oompa-Loompas: The worst part of the film, very obnoxious and distracting. I’m sorry, but Deep Roy is just not someone I want to see duplicated over and over wearing tight colorful suits, dancing and singing all over the screen.

The story: I liked this version which is apparently based on the original book (though I’ve never read it). Mostly I just saw this movie for pure entertainment, not to see how accurately it duplicated the book or Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. And in that case, I was not at all disappointed. Thanks for taking me babe!

Violet! You’re turning violet, Violet!

Annie’s home! Went to GR this weekend to visit. We had a sibling reunion Friday night–Josh, me, Ann, Em, and Kel all together, living in the same fucking state. It’s unheard of! Then we had Girls Night with Delaney and Caleigh. They were a major handful, but it was fun.

I finally got my hair cut, Ann did it. Only a trim, but it feels so much better. The chatty cathy neighbor talked our ear off the whole damn time about how his car was stolen. Wow he’s a talker! Eventually I escaped inside with the excuse that I needed to check my haircut in the mirror, and I left Ann out there to fend for herself. She finally came in about 20 minutes a whole conversation about his job at Dick’s later.

I’m house-sitting for three weeks now. It’s so nice to be out of my old awkward living situation. Hopefully something permanent comes along. But in the meantime I have a whole house to myself with no pets or people. It has AC, cable, internet. And best of all, Brad and I don’t have to find something to do all the time! We can just hang out in a nice cool house and spend as little money as possible.

Did everyone run out and buy HP6 friday night? I let my sisters do the running out. I’ll just borrow a copy from someone eventually. While I love the books, I just can’t get myself to be THAT excited.

What I am excited for is to see my man Johnny Depp on the big screen again. I think Brad and I are gonna see CATCF this week!

Thanks Ben for giving me something to do!

Work is not fun right now and I was looking for a distraction. Filling this out kept me busy for awhile at least. So

What is your favorite road sign?
Speed Hump

Are you feeling pain right now?
Lots. My eyes burn. My back aches. My tummy is ill.

Do you own a picture phone? If so, what pictures are on it right now?
No, my phone is archaic, which is fine by me.

What was your favorite song when you were little (i.e., under 10)?
Tiffany’s “I think we’re alone now.” Wasn’t that every little girls?

What’s your favorite board game?
I really like Scattegories, but I don’t know if that counts as a board game.

What’s your favorite card game?
Oh Shit! (aka: oh poop, oh shinags, oh phooey, etc)

Atari 2600 or ColecoVision?
Atari. What the hell is Coleco Vision?

What animal does your favorite cheese come from?
Sharp cheddar…I guess that’s from a cow.

What products do you use when you take a shower?
Suave shampoo and conditioner, bar soap or body wash, razor.

What are you looking forward to?
Seeing my sisters this weekend, housesitting for three weeks, camping with Brad next weekend.

What was one thing you wanted desperately as a child but your parents wouldn’t give you?
I had a backyard, some books and four siblings…I don’t remember needing much else.

At what age did you stop believing in Santa Claus?
I don’t remember exactly, but I was the big sister who had to keep it secret from her younger siblings for a long time. I’m thinking I was pretty young. I’m a logic person, so my young mind was very skeptical.

If you could have just one person from a celebrity entourage (nutritionist, personal trainer, makeup artist, etc), what one would you want?
Personal trainer cuz otherwise I can be a lazy mother fucker.

What should you be doing right now instead of filling out this survey?
Doing work stuff.

What magazines do you subscribe to or buy regularly?
None, but my dad gives me his old Time and Smithsonians. I also read Robin’s Cosmo, People or Us Weekly when I’m there.

E-mail or snail mail?
Email

If you had the choice, which would you rather explore: the far reaches of outer space or the deepest depths of the ocean?
Outer space I guess

Do you find any cartoon characters attractive?
Dora’s pretty hot.

King Kong or Godzilla?
I always get confused and think Godzilla is the big monkey thing. I think it’s the resemblence to the word gorilla. So anyway, I don’t care about either enough to even know which is which.

Are you like your parents?
In some ways definitely, and I’m proud of those similarities.

Do you write your number seven with or without the line through the middle?
Without, I also don’t put the line in the Z of my last name

What is/was your school mascot and colors?
Trojans. Orange and Black.

What do you put on your toast?
Butter; sometimes cinnamon and sugar too

I’ve been on Angie’s STMM diet I guess

Just wanted to share the good news with all my faithful readers. Some of you will actually care about this. Angie, Brooke…I’m looking at you.

I went to visit our good friend Victoria at her Secret on Tuesday, and I’m proud to say I walked out of there with two size 36D bras! Yes that’s right, I didn’t forget the other D. My “massive melons” are one size smaller, and I’m so proud of my girls. To celebrate I bought a hot pink bra that was 50% off (in addition to the not-so-hot-pink one I had to buy for practical purposes). They don’t make 36DD in any hot colors, so this is a huge excitement for me. And anybody else who sees me in my bra too, of course.

Enough about bras and boobs. But everyone say a “Good job girls” for me. Or I mean them.

I’m hungry and it’s only 10:30

No fun pictures to share from the weekend. Brad didn’t have a charged battery for his camera, which means I don’t get to take pictures either because oh yeah, I don’t have my own damn camera!

We watched Return to Oz on Friday. Does everyone realize what a freakishly freaky movie that is? I’ve always had this really fuzzy memory of one scene in that film, but it was so vague and weird that I could never even describe it to anyone. I was ecstatic to see that it actually is in the film, and turns out it’s a key scene. Everyone has been turned into ornaments and Dorothy has to figure out which ones they are and release them. What the fuck?

Brad and his friends are pyros, which made for an entertaining 3rd of July fireworks show. I lit a sparkler or two myself. I thought those used to be fun…

Don’t bother to see Mr. And Mrs. Smith unless you’re in mad lust for Brad or Angelina (which personally I am). Otherwise, not worth it.

I found my black skirt this morning. It was lost in my closet and I had completely forgotten about it. I decided to wear it of course and I’m really liking it. It’s a good day for a long black skirt.
