Cassettes are still cool right?
I think my insomnia is coming back. I used to get it during every Fall semester. Now that I’m out of school, I thought I was cured, but it may be coming to haunt me again. Even though it’s not Fall semester. Everyday I’m so tired and can barely get up in the morning. All I can do is think about sleep all day and how I can’t wait to go to bed that night. Then when it comes time to crawl in bed and sleep, I lay there wide awake, staring at the walls, unable to stop thinking. It’s a vicious cycle really. Anyone have a solution?
My other current annoyance: the cd player, or lack thereof, in my car. This car that I had to buy didn’t have a cd player, which is fine with me. I’m not about to spend the money to install a new one. But the cassette player doesn’t even work! Yes I still have a small collection of old-school tapes in my car for emergencies. Like when I’m driving back to GR and there is no good music on the radio for the majority of the trip. So, my genius idea was to steal my sister’s portable CD player thing and ya know, hook it up to my car stereo and listen to CDs that way! Perfect! Except oh yeah, you need to use that cassette-on-a-string thing to get it to work. And my cassette player is broken. Fuck.
So does anyone know how to maybe fix this without ripping apart my car? It will still play the tapes, but it also plays this obnoxiously loud screeching noise on top of it. I don’t know what the screeching noise is, but it’s too loud to deal with. Is there any way to clean it out or fix it somehow? I tried jamming a pen around in there, but that didn’t help. I tried blowing in it–like you used to have to do with the original Nintendo system–that didn’t work either. Please help! Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

There’s little do-jobs that plug into CD players and iPods that re-transmit the signal over FM radio — so you just tune your radio to a special station and you hear your CD player.

I know what you mean about the CD player. Petunia doesn’t have one either. Hey do you think you’ll be able to make it this weekend to my house party?
